The duo of Adam Cabbage (Rio Ranchero, N.M.) and Rob Page (Rochester, N.Y.) took home gold in men’s U26, defeating Kyle Stevenson (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.) and Martin Lorenz (Spokane, Wash.) in straight sets, 21-13, 21-19.
The first championship division titles were handed out at the 2013 USA Volleyball Beach High Performance Championships (Beach HPC) in Hermosa Beach, Calif., as the under-21 (U21) and U26 divisions wrapped up play on Thursday.
“We just needed one side out,†Cabbage said of the final play of the match. “I was like, ‘just get a decent pass,’ and I kind of botched the pass. But Robbie gave me a great set; he made up for it, and as soon as I hit it I knew we were going to win.â€
