I thought there may have been a change in the classifications this year. I saw some numbers but did not know if it was official?

Dumb question.............what happened to AAA and does this eliminate the playoff that AAA and AA played last year with now just the AA winner going to regionals??

Wayne's population decreased from 718 last year to 688....Odd given that Webster, just to the West, is becoming very crowded.

If this rate continues (30 students/year), Wayne will be competing with Bloomfield in Class C in 2021!!! LOL

AAA disappeared because there are only 14 schools classified by the State as AA. The sport chairperson uses the following guidelines when determining classifications and if there is the need for multiple classifications within a State class.

The following numbers will be used to split classes:
1 class 4-17 schools
2 classes 18-34 schools
3 classes 35-51 schools

Dividing classes should result in an equal number of schools in each sub-class. Where this is not possible, each coordinator will use the appropriate divisor and count down from the highest enrollment within the class and up from the lowest enrollment in the class. The odd school enrollment is considered the bubble school. An average for the top group and an average for the bottom group is established. The odd school will be place with the group having the closest average to its enrollment.

If you want to read the whole document, it is available as a PDF from the Section V website.

Bloomfield went from D to C, so ... by 2021, Bloomfield could be winning the A's, and watching Wayne in the C's.

Ok, so somewhere in between now and 2021 we'll see you in B!

So Class B statewide now has Eden, Hendrick Hudson, John Glenn and Wayne.

I'm thinking it's better to be in another class this year.
