Prep Volleyball has listed their Top 100.
One team from NY is in the Preseason Top 20.
One is on the barely missed the cut list (Top 117).
Another 6 are on the bubble. (Top 350).
I don't want to violate the copywrite so I won't post the names.
Here is a per section breakout of the teams:
Section I - 1
Section V - 2
Section VI -2
Section IX -1
Section XI -2
Let's play a little game, see if you use your powers of deduction to come up with who these 8 teams are. (Or if you subcribe you can just go look).
In any event 8 NY teams in the Top 350 is an impressive accomplishment and a credit to all those teams who participated and impressed in the State Championships where prepvolleyball.com was in attendance. It's also a credit to all the fine club teams who have accomplished impressive results at the big club tournaments.

Yeah that is nice. Hopefully, it will continue a trend and more programs will develop. As far as your question goes, I guess you have to look at last year's talent, since he and the Molten Rep observed many of the top teams at States last year + minimal graduation and then which teams had players who experienced very successful big-time club seasons. Tawa from Prepvball considers that stuff carefully.
