Any idea who won the Bronze final? Score?
Also I understand Gilman beat Webster in the Silver Final. Anybody have the score?
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

Gilman? Are they from Maryland?
<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">
yes, Gilman is a private school in the Baltimore area that travels to play in the PHS tourney every year. They are coached by Neil Gabbey who played at Penfield back in the 80's. I believe Neil's brother is also a teacher at PHS as well.

The tournament ran well, lots of GREAT volleyball to be seen. you could even witness coaches not playing their starters and trying a few different rotations, i know its hard to believe but it DOES happen...

Nice job Coach Fusare and the Penfield program for putting together another great event.

Yesterday was definitely the best I've seen McQuaid play all year. Their service game was able to keep their opponents off balance, the defense and block were both sound, and the offense was in system always. It's almost a hopeless task to defend quick balls to both pins (McQuaid's offense) at the high school level.

I kind of feel sad for the talent they have on the bench at any given time. Obviously those kids have no complaints about winning and about the team's situation, but its tough to see kids - who, in my opinion, are great players - sit idle. I mean these are not your run of the mill nice role players and projects on your bench. These are high-ceiling potential club starters who are not playing.

Great showing by McQuaid...I was very impressed.

Great showing by Victor. Now that victory by Webster is looking more impressive. I hope some lessons have been learned this season...and not repeated.

Great Tournament...but Penfield has always put on a great tournament.'

And if you were there, I hope you had a chance to meet Jack Hunter. He is was an amazing coach and is a great man....

I have heard that Midlakes JV is pretty good. Tough to figure out JV for some schools that may have freshman and sophomores on varsity already.

Is the McQuaid JV team as good as the varsity?

And i also agree with Joe i feel McQ does have potential starters on the bench that play very well. It is sad but shows great depth of McQ

Yes MCQ has a very solid jv team. Looks wise they look like a varsity team they are very athletic with a good setter and great offence.
Top 3 teams in no random order
Midlakes
MCQ
Victor

I believe the only teams to beat MCQ is Midlakes 2 out of 3 times and a Private School named Conesus from Buffalo.
Midlakes I believe has only lost once to MCQ
Victor is undefeated but only playing Midlakes and winning in a scrimage tourney and beating two splt MCQ teams in the same tourney that was very early on in the season and again a scrimage tourney.
Any of these teams I think can beat each other on any given night. I think these 3 teams stand out above the rest but with Penfield being a team you could probally argue to be on the list. JV is fun because on any given day any team can be upset. The Midlakes and Penfield Tourneys are coming up and im sure there will be some great JV matchs to be watched.

Who plays on JV still? As Aged said many sophomores and freshmen are on varsity now. I will try to stop by the Penfield tournament even though I am not sure if my son would want to go.

There is a very special sophomore on the McQuaid Varsity team named Teddy Combs. He is the younger brother of my Godson Jimmy Combs, Jimmy is also known as the rip rhyming rapping vball smacker. Although Teddy does not have a special name like his older brother, he is an incredible young athlete none-the-less. Oh yea, he is a true thug 4life, he is 50% like Jimmy Combs, 50% like SOD, and 50% like Tupac. Watch out for him down the road!

Q is right that happens in a lot of cases. The 3 teams I mentioned MCQ, Midlakes & Victor seem to be the top in Each Class B, BB, A. These Teams I am guessing don't pull these kids becuase they just wouldn't play on a varsity team like that and get the playing time and experience they need. It is nice to see some of these younger kids that do get pulled up making a huge impact on a team that needs them and playing at a varsity level. We (Victor) played Brockport yesterday and Shane a soph. i thought played very well for a younger player. Also West Irond. Middle is a beast and I think he is also a soph. There is a lot of great younger players on Varsity teams that im sure if on a JV team would make a huge impact.

Shane is sick, but also a junior. The best sophomores are:

Shaun Ermi-Rush
Christy Bough- McQuaid
Ethan Dangler- Penfield

Would be nice to get him (or any other male/female volleyball player or coach) in the Frontier Field Walk of Fame.
